EFFECTS OF GLOBAL EVENTS ON DAILY LIFE------ BY MEGHA

How global events impact our lives? Each one of you who is reading this right now has experienced the impact of a global event (pandemic) this last year. So, let’s talk about that today. Two years ago the terms like “Lockdown”,“Social distancing”,“Mask mandates” were unknown to most of us. Today they are part of our everyday language as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact all aspects of our lives. Let’s talk about mental health !! We all thought that 2020 was the worst year and we will never see anything worse than that. But then came “the year 2021”, which affected people’s lives not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. Stress is a natural and expected response to any health crisis, but stress unexpectedly increases when everyone around you is getting infected, that is the time you feel most vulnerable. Questions like- Will this pandemic end or get worse? Will my anxiety end or get worse? Impacts your mental health even more. Different groups are facing...

BODY POSITIVITY--- BY MEGHA

Nowadays people are obsessed with their before and after pictures whether be it their weight loss journey or their weight gain journey. I can totally relate to the feeling. But the question here is why we were not happy with our "before pictures"? or were we? But society wasn't.

The idea that people love, respect, and appreciate their bodies despite the shape and size is what body positivity is all about.😇

The thing which I have understood about body positivity is that it is not about appearance, it is about acceptance. The very first step towards body acceptance is not listening what society think about your body shape or size, they will never stop criticizing or judging you no matter how you look.

"YOUR BODY IS NOT WRONG SOCIETY IS"

BODY SHAMING

Do you ever stop and think that how often we are told to change our appearances? You know, each and everyone of us has experienced body shaming in one way or another. Believe it or not even you have body shamed yourself many times ( I know I have). It is hard to believe but sometimes body shaming starts within your family. Yes, I said it. There are times when our family unknowingly or knowingly say some things which are hurtful.
"OH! YOU HAVE GAINED WEIGHT, KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR DIET" OR " LOOK AT YOU..HOW SKINNY YOU HAVE BECOME. START EATING SOMETHING".

Not to forget how many times we must have body shamed our friends in schools and colleges even if it was in a funny way. But we forget that how this is going to affect an individual's mental health. That person starts hating his/her body.

Also, everytime when we talk about body shaming we are only concerned about the overweight people being targeted but we tend to forget that underweight people are also body shamed.

I personally have faced a lot of comments when i lost weight (I did it for myself). People forget that our bodies grow and evolve, it is part of the process. No one can maintain that same appearance throughout their life. I still don't get that why this thing is so hard to understand for the society. We do not want your unsolicited opinion.

MALE BODY POSITIVITY

Some of you must know that body positivity is a social movement that is going from past many years. When we talk about body positivity we neglect male body positivity. But let's face it that men face many of the same issues as women do in relation to body positivity and self esteem.
Again, knowingly or unknowingly we all have given hate comments to the men in our lives. Here are some phrases we usually use-
"I need my man to be taller than me, i don't like short guys", "I want a man with abs", "I don't date bald guys", "That hairline is atrocious" etc.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Honestly speaking, nobody but only you can make yourself feel positive towards your body. You do post all the body positive quotes on social media but then at the end of the day compare yourself with all those "glamorous influencers". This is where you go wrong. Your beauty lies in the grey matter of your brain, do not let anybody tell you otherwise.
Also, in order to be positive and appreciating your body do not let others down, if by doing so you feel good about yourself then you are not body positive. Keep that in mind.
So, next time if anyone calls you fatso, tell them FAT...SO??😙

I hope next time when you see a mirror you hug yourself and for once accept and appreciate your body and not just say but believe
 YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.💓
