Two years ago the terms like “Lockdown”,“Social distancing”,“Mask mandates” were unknown to most of us. Today they are part of our everyday language as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact all aspects of our lives. Let’s talk about mental health !! We all thought that 2020 was the worst year and we will never see anything worse than that. But then came “the year 2021”, which affected people’s lives not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. Stress is a natural and expected response to any health crisis, but stress unexpectedly increases when everyone around you is getting infected, that is the time you feel most vulnerable. Questions like- Will this pandemic end or get worse? Will my anxiety end or get worse? Impacts your mental health even more. Different groups are facing...

DO'S AND DONT'S FOR OILY AND ACNE PRONE SKIN--- BY MEGHA

When you have acne, it feels like you are the only person in the world without a clear skin or complexion and it does loose your confidence to walk bare face in public. But believe me this is not the case. According to a survey acne is the eighth most prevalent condition worldwide.

I personally been suffering from acne for a long time now. It does get better for sometime and then it's back to basic. There are multiple reasons for WHY YOU HAVE ACNE!!
In my case it's mostly because of the oily skin, genetics and sluggish detox system (ugh.. the worst)

So here are some do's and dont's which works for me to get rid of my acne.

DONT'S FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

1. Do not touch your face frequently - I know this is a really difficult task for  most of us as we tend to touch our face a lot . But by doing this we are only  allowing several bacteria of your hands to enter our skin.

2. Do not eat fried or spicy food/ junk food -  In order to get a good and acne-free skin you  have to quit this habit of eating junk. This is  the route cause of your sluggish detox  system. You can have this once a week as a  cheat day in order to satisfy your cravings.  Following this habit will not only make your  skin better but also help your body to be in a  better shape.

3. Do not have sugar and dietary products in your diet- If you are someone  who is suffering from PCOD/PCOS(polycystic ovary syndrome) you should know that sugar and milk does not get along with your hormonal imbalances  as it will increase the glycemic index (GI) of your body and cause acne.

4. Do not go to bed with your makeup on-  Makeup is something that both guys  and girls like to do now-a-days. Just  remember even if you are dead tired at the end of the day you need to remove all that gunk and makeup from your face before heading to bed or else it will clog your pores and will cause acne/ pimples.

5. Do not apply hair oil before you go to bed- If you are someone who is constantly suffering from forehead acne, then this tip is for you. When you  apply hair oil and leave it overnight it tend to make your forehead oily  and leads to acne. Apply hair oil 1-2 hour before washing your hair.

6. Do not scrub your face more often- If you are  suffering from cystic acne then using physical exfoliant regularly will cause more acne. Instead use face  wash containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and azelaic  acid. I personally  use Neutrogena/clean and clear( they both work quite similarly) and cetaphil cleanser(this will  not make your skin dry) you can use any other face wash  which suits your skin and also your pocket😅

7. Do not forget to clean your phone- People tend to forget this very basic step in their daily life. If you are someone who is always on phone do not forget to clean your phone's screen as it contains bacteria which can cause acne on your side cheek.

8. Do not stress - I know this is  something which neither of us want but sadly it has become a part of our lives but keep in mind that stress and emotional imbalance is not good for your health. Stress often destroy your skin cells and this may lead to oily skin and breakouts. Introduce  meditation to your daily life, listen to your favourite music, read  books, write about how you feel (I personally follow this). These things will  help you to cope with your stress  and bring peace to your mind.

DO'S FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

1. Drink ample amount of water throughout the day(2-3 litres)

2. Do keep an eye on your diet- As i have mentioned that you should avoid fried or spicy food. Instead introduce lots of fruits and veggies in your diet as it will provide fiber and hydration to your body and skin. Avoid having mangoes as they induce acne due to the high sugar  content. Also introduce overnight soaked dry fruits as a evening snack. It will help you to avoid the temptations of having those fried snacks.

3. Use a separate face towel- Okay, so this is something i have been  doing for the past one year and believe me this is a game changer. We do not pay attention towards the cloth or towel we are using for drying our face. Using the same towel for your body and your face is a mistake most people do which is one of the  cause for your acne. Use a face towel instead and wash it in every 2-3 days (ik it is a little difficult but believe me it will be worth it).

4. Change your pillow covers and bed sheets often- Dirty sheets and pillow  covers have bacteria and germs on it which can transfer to your skin and can  lead to acne.

5. Wash your face twice a day with  a mild face wash- You have to  keep your skin clean in order to  cure acne. Keeping in mind that you do not over wash your face as it will make your skin dry by loosing it's natural oils. Do not forget to cleanse your face after exercising.

6. Make yoga, exercise part of your  daily life- With a healthy diet you need  to sweat the toxins out of your body, for that you need to take out  some time from your busy schedule  and practice yoga, exercise. Yoga help as a stress buster and also help to cure the hormonal imbalances of your body.

7. Do clean your cosmetic brushes regularly- If you are someone who love  to do makeup then you have to make sure the cosmetic brushes you use are clean , so to avoid the pore-clogging germs and residues on it.

8. Use a good SPF sunscream-
I personally use Neutrogena SPF-50+. You can give it a try. You need to protect your skin from that heat. You can give this sunscream a try. It is dermatologist approved(not getting paid for it).😛

ALSO THESE ARE SOME TIPS OR CHANGES I HAD IN MY LIFESTYLE BUT IF YOU STILL CAN'T CURE YOUR ACNE WITH THESE TIPS THEN DO SEEK MEDICAL HELP. GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST . BECAUSE SOMETIMES THESE HORMONAL ACNE NEED TO GET ASSISTED BY A PROFESSIONAL. TILL THEN KEEP LOVING YOUR SKIN THE WAY IT IS. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL ANYWAY.💓
