How global events impact our lives? Each one of you who is reading this right now has experienced the impact of a global event (pandemic) this last year. So, let’s talk about that today. Two years ago the terms like “Lockdown”,“Social distancing”,“Mask mandates” were unknown to most of us. Today they are part of our everyday language as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact all aspects of our lives. Let’s talk about mental health !! We all thought that 2020 was the worst year and we will never see anything worse than that. But then came “the year 2021”, which affected people’s lives not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. Stress is a natural and expected response to any health crisis, but stress unexpectedly increases when everyone around you is getting infected, that is the time you feel most vulnerable. Questions like- Will this pandemic end or get worse? Will my anxiety end or get worse? Impacts your mental health even more. Different groups are facing...

WHAT TO EAT IN A DAY(INDIAN DIET) --- BY MEGHA

 Hey readers

So it's been almost four months since we are in this lockdown in our home watching Netflix, sleeping for hours, stressing about multiple things (ughh tell me about it) and also binging on food🍲 .

Okay so let me tell you i am no dietician or fitness expert i am that girl who is really concerned about what she eats in a day and how it will effect her body and skin. And to be honest in the first month of this lockdown I didn't care about what and how much I was eating. But then after a month I realized that isn't working dude you need to stop!! So then i decided to include healthy meals in my day. Let's get started on what I eat in a day and if you like it you can follow it as well because... why not!!

1. MORNING LIME WATER

Starting your morning with lime water is the best thing you can do. Instead of having tea or coffee empty stomach which is not good for your gut have a glass of lukewarm lime water( you can also add honey in it ). Lemon also helps to build your immunity which is really important in times like these.

2. FRUITY MORNING

Eating fruits first thing in the morning before breakfast is my new morning ritual and let me tell you it is the best part of the day😍. You can eat any fruit available at your home( avoid eating mangoes and litchis everyday as they contain lot of sugars). Eating fruits empty stomach is really good for your gut as well as your skin as it will hydrate your body.

3. BREAKFAST

In breakfast i usually eat vegetable poha, vegetable chilla(cheela) upma, sandwiches(whole grain bread), idli sambhar and sometimes it's even roti/chapati sabzi/veggies what my mum has cooked. Breakfast is suppose be a wholesome and happy meal of the entire day.
If you want to eat eggs then go for it...
After i am done with my breakfast i have my green tea. Yes, i have green tea after my breakfast, this is how it works for me. You can even have it empty stomach. The point of having my green tea after or with my breakfast is that I don't get the temptation of having coffee or tea(with milk and sugar) with my breakfast.

4. LUNCH

So personally i don't have or believe in pre-lunch snack. I mean already it is difficult to have three proper meals in a day how can you introduce one more meal. Anyway, my lunch is pretty basic usually. That is one roti or daal(pulses) or sabzi(veggies) or sometimes i even have rice .
Pretty basic stuff that our Indian households have. But yes keeping the amount of carbs in mind I only have 1-2 chapatis/rotis in a day. Also introduce salad and buttermilk(chhaas) in your lunch as it will improve your gut health.

5. EVENING

So after 2 hours of my lunch I have my tea(with milk and sugar). With tea I usually have dry fruits or fox nuts(makhane). I sometimes eat dark chocolate with eat( ik i am weird) .
Also I have not mentioned at what time i have all these meals... duhh it's lockdown guys eat whenever you want to but eat healthy.

6. DINNER

I usually workout in evening. So after my workout i have cucumber or any salad for that matter. You need to introduce as much as fiber in your diet as possible. So my dinner is usually around 8-8:30 PM ,yes here i am pointing the time because you need to have your dinner before 9 PM. I eat next to nothing in my dinner. It is mostly daal(pulses) . I also try making some salads to keep it healthy and tasty. Lately my favourite is sweet corn salad(the one in the picture above). If your appetite is more than this then increase the quantity instead of having one bowl of pulses have two but avoid having carbs(chapati/rice) in dinner.
I don't usually get mid-night cravings. So it was easy for me not to eat after my dinner but if you do have mid-night cravings then have peanut butter or something which is healthy and not those fried snacks . But on a regular basis you should not eat anything two hours before heading to bed.

You can enjoy your cheat day once a week.

TIPS:  If you have read my blog till here then you deserve some tips which i religously follow and believe me it works-

  1. In order to get good metabolism try to walk for atleast half an hour after every meal.

  2. Do not drink water atleast for an hour after you have your meal and even after one hour try to have warm water instead of normal water.

  3. Avoid aerated drinks. I cannot emphasize more on this but believe me quitting aerated drinks was the best decision. I have not had any since 3 months and i can see the difference on my body and skin.

 4. Drink a lot of water. Ik Ik you have read it everywhere but do you follow that???? If you do then thumbs up!!! but if you don't you really need to hydrate your body by drinking 2-3 litres of water everyday. Do it and see the results.

Just a reminder that this diet works perfectly fine for me maybe it does not work for you. Do not just follow whatever you read on internet. Change your diet in moderation and see how your body responds 💓.
